Site of The Day Weekly Wrap Up

This week we featured four awesome blogs, two very talented bands and one very creative record label.  Below, is last weeks rundown just in case you missed out on anything.

Monday: We choose our favorite boys over at I Guess I’m Floating. Nobody does it better then them and they proved it by showing everyone a great time at SXSW.

Tuesday: We chose to feature Mitten, an electronic indie pop band from Brooklyn that we think happens to stand above the rest.

Wednesday: There are some pretty cool festivals coming up this spring one of them is Camp Bisco.  We tuned you in to In Your Speakers for their preview of Camp Bisco.

Thursday: We don’t know a lot about bands from Alabama, but we are sure glad we found this one and we hope you feel the same.  In case you forgot, we chose retro pysch-rock band The Dirty Lungs as our Site of The Day.

Friday: Where would we be with out dedicated indie record labels? That’s why chose Friends Records

Saturday: We like to think out of the box on the weekends.  Lets take a step out and check in on Crud Crud.  This guy shuffles through the stacks of old forgotten record and pulls out gems to share with you.

Sunday: We reserved this day for something novel, choosing Garagehangover as our site of the day.  This site is wholly dedicated to 1960’s garage rock bands. Pretty cool, right?

We hope you enjoyed our picks for the week.  Check in everyday to see where we will be pointing you next.

Exfm & Me.

So yesterday marked Day 1 of my new role as Community Manager at exfm. I am happy to report they let me come back for day 2.

It’s kind of surreal. What I mean by that is I made a short list of places I’d love to work at in NYC along with some criteria (small start-up, tech, preferably music-oriented, social, and customer-centric in scope). Number one on that list was exfm. By a long shot. It’s always weird (in a great way) when you get exactly what you want. You almost pinch yourself. I’m not overstating that. I really think the team at exfm is great. I was a big fan of them and the platform even before I interviewed. So this is humbling and a honor for me.

I’ve got a lot to learn. And I’m sure I’ll make a ton of mistakes. They’ve given me a nice lengthy piece of rope though. The goal for the short term is not to hang myself. No worries, though, soon enough I’ll wrangle it into a nice lasso to snag users. I’m really excited about this challenge. I’m a huge fan of music. It’s central to my life. Always has been. And the exfm platform is great.

You can read my full intro post on the exfm blog (you know you want to). You can here

I also wanted to take a brief moment and thank a few people:
1. My amazing wife who always believes in me. Tu eres la mejor mi vida.
2. David-Noël for his advice and support. If I’m half the Community Manager he is at SoundCloud, I will be a phenomenal Community Manager.
3. Joanne Wilson (aka GothamGal) for her advice, support, and ear.
4. And of course the team at exfm for taking a leap of faith on me. I know they had a ton of qualified candidates to choose from.

Hello and good morning exfmer’s! My name is Jessica and I’m one of the newest additions to the exfm family along with Kirk, our new Community Manager.  I will be heading up our Marketing initiative and I’m beyond excited to get started.

I was first introduced to exfm via a tweet from Mark of yvynyl.  I knew if he was singing their praises then I had take a serious look.  As a music blogger and fanatic I was immediately hooked, the rest is history.  Needless to say, I’m elated to be part of such an amazing team.

As the Marketing Manager, I’m going to be working hard to spread the good word and really utilize the exfm Tumblr blog.  While Kirk will be here to take care of our community and help you out in anyway possible . This means, not only will you be the happiest users alive, but will also be exposed to some seriously entertaining content as well as the exfm name around every corner.

We will all be heading out to SXSW in Austin next week so if you’re there I look forward to meeting you.  Come find me and say hello.  Until then you can follow me on exfm or twitter.  Feel free to send me a tweet.  I’d be thrilled to meet you!

Hello x2

My name is Kirk. I’m the brand-spanking new Community Manager at exfm. That makes me one of the luckiest people out there because exfm is killer. And it’s just getting started.

What began as a Google Chrome experiment has blossomed into what I (and a lot of others) feel is the coolest way to discover, rediscover, and experience great music and fans of music on the web. We think the best way.

I came across exfm during its beta testing stage via a seriously awesome group of people posting tunes on Tumblr (we love Tumblr, too). From there I watched the platform expand to where it is today (version 2.0). It’s come a long way in a short time. It’s going to get even better. I can’t state how humbled and honored I am to be a small part of this amazing team. Dan, Charles, Marshall, and crew have built something really special here. You can just feel it.

Yet, we also know that a great platform is nothing without a great community of users. Hence, this introduction. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the many, wonderful exfm users. Listening to their feedback. Helping when they need assistance. And, of course, listening to great music together along the way. I’m not alone in this regard either. The team has also added the super talented music blogger Jessica Page to the community mix. She’s smart, funny, cool, and knows about a 1,000% more about what’s happening right now in music than me (and I know a decent amount). You’ll see us tag-teaming here on the blog and elsewhere. I’m super psyched to be working alongside Jessica. (Be sure to check out her intro blog post, too.)

As for me, I can’t promise I’ll be perfect along the way or know every single answer off the top of my head. I won’t. Not by a long shot. In fact, I’ve got some serious beefing up to do in the technical department. But, I can assure you that I’m going to bust my ass every single day and do the absolute best I can to make exfm an even better experience for our users.

PS: I’ll be at SXSW starting Saturday so keep an eye out for exfm. We’ll have great swag and some cool demos of new things coming soon. Looking forward to experiencing great music on a great platform with all of you.

Music FTW!
